iPhones to rise, Android phones fall as global smartphone market faces decline

0
Global smartphone shipments are expected to decline by 4.7% in 2023, reaching their lowest volume in a decade, according to a report by IDC. However, iOS shipments are predicted to grow by 1.1% in 2023, with an all-time high share of 19.9%. This growth is attributed to iOS being more resilient to macro challenges compared to Android, which is forecasted to decline by 6.0% this year. The decline in smartphone shipments is expected to be most significant in China, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan and China), and Latin America. Despite the gloomy outlook, IDC predicts the market to recover in 2024 with 4.5% year-over-year growth.
